Te Whiringa Circuit 2025

The Waimarino Shears is proud to introduce the Te Whiringa circuit 2025. “Te Whiringa” translates to “The Weaving of us all,” symbolising the unity, care, and relationships that form when shearers, competitions, and communities come together.

This circuit embodies the values of Kotahitanga (unity), Manaakitanga (care and respect), and Whanaungatanga (relationships and kinship), creating a platform for shearers across the North Island to showcase their skills, learn, and grow in an environment of collective support.

February 16 - Counties Shears

February 21 - Taumarunui Shears

February 22 - Apiti Sports

March 8 - Kumeu A & P Show

March 15 - Waimarino Shears

Circuit Structure

The Te Whiringa circuit will consist of (10) shearing competitions across the North Island. The Waimarino Shears is the last opportunity to gain circuit points before the final. The circuit will culminate in a final at the Waimarino Shears as well.

Points System

Points will be awarded to competitors based on their placement from the heats only at each Te Whiringa circuit competition excluding the Waimarino Shears.

Prizes

To reward participation, commitment and quality shearing, a range of prizes will be up for grabs throughout the circuit. These will be awarded to the top qualifier of the senior grade heats at each Te Whiringa circuit competition.
